SECURITY
How Safe Is Your Network?
Implementing network security is an investment in the integrity of your company, its reputation, its intellectual property and vital network operations.
In today's business environment, one weakness in your company's security policy, procedures or software can seriously jeopardize the safety of your valuable information systems, computers and networks. Security measures tailored to meet evolving business requirements and risks make it possible for companies to work efficiently and effectively without compromising their viability.
Protect Your Company
There are many devices and methods for protecting your company's security; knowing how and what to protect takes planning, development and implementation of specific policies and procedures.
DocuTech begins with a comprehensive survey designed to evaluate aspects of your company's security at all levels. We then determine appropriate measures to take, devices to install and procedures to enact.
To provide network security, DocuTech partners with the most reliable manufacturers of equipment and software, including Cisco, SonicWall, Symantec and Shavlik. For optimal security and threat management, DocuTech recommends a comprehensive management system which, at the very least, automates antivirus, antispyware, patch management and malware. Ten Steps to Network Security:
- Security policy and analysis
Define your company's security goals, identify areas to be secured, confront newest security issues; develop and implement a strategy for network security to be enforced uniformly and consistently.
- Virus protection
Implement countermeasures to detect viruses, worms and Trojan Horses before they compromise your network.
- Firewall protection
Based on your network needs, install the appropriate firewall to protect your network from intruders. Screening routers, proxy servers and authentication servers can be utilized alone and in combination as firewalls.
- Virtual private network.
Create a VPN for use by employees and selected remote users to help keep your data safe and your network secure. This can be achieved through a private WAN or by using technology called tunneling, which allows the creation of a private channel inside the Internet, protected by authentication and encryption, where users can establish individual sessions for working within the channel (VPN).
- Authentication
Verify the identity of users through methods such as passwords, secret keys and encrypted certificates. Authentication can be linked to something the user knows (an encrypted response to a challenge message), something the user has (a token, key, magnetic stripe card or smart card containing a computer chip), or physical characteristics of the user (fingerprint or palm print ID, retinal scan, signature, voice recognition).
- Application Security
ISA, Internet Security Appliance is an all in one device that filters internet traffic based on application need. Filtering by application allows only specific traffic to pass through the device and each packet is inspected to ensure it is valid for the application intended.
- Intrusion detection
Know when unauthorized people attempt to access your network and prevent an attack. Safeguard your network with a detect-alert-prevent approach.
- Web and content filtering
Limit what those in your company view as they access the Internet from your network; control what others see as they access your network.
- PKI (Public Key Infrastructure)
Utilize PKIs to provide a comprehensive security infrastructure incorporating public key cryptography, certificates, digital signatures and encryption. PKIs enable secure e-mail, secure web browsing, virtual private networking and e-commerce.
- Integrity validation
Put your network security to the test. Challenge one or more savvy hackers to attempt to breach your security measures.
