Have IT Services Changed?

Organizations are demanding more from their information technology in a way that is completely alien to many service providers.
They are requiring IT services to provide:
- A mutual investment in success
- Long term service improvements rather than quick fixes
- The elimination of wasted time and effort
- Measured accountability.
This all sounds great but is it achievable?
Complications begin when executive management doesn’t make their organization’s strategies and objectives clear to the people responsible for maintaining their information technology. More complications arise when IT departments are allowed to make independent decisions that may or may not align with the organization's strategies and objectives. Proactive planning, active monitoring and a reporting process that measures accountability and outcome are essential.
In future blogs, I will discuss the IT standards, tools and processes that are working for companies and how they are being used.
