Business management’s primary goal is the sustainability and growth of an organization.
This sustainability relies on several areas of business management expertise which includes accounting, human resources, legal and information technology, to name a few.
Management’s responsibility is to keep these resources in alignment and scalable. As one area moves, so should the others. One of the most complex areas of business management is information technology because of its constantly changing complexity, choices and expert opinions.
Highly successful companies understand this need for alignment and have developed a process for maintaining it.
The following rules are the minimum essential components necessary to align information technology with the other areas of business management:
- Implement information technology solutions that are scalable, both up or down.
- Understand the impact of technology changes and updates on employees, customers and suppliers.
- Make sure technology supports the needs of all other areas of business management.
- Know the legal and regulatory requirements for your company’s data.
- Know how new technologies impact existing ones.
