Learn About Emerging Trends in IT Governance and Win an iPad

DocuTech and Expert Technology Associates are excited to announce a new educational series of webinars and seminars for 2011, focused on current and emerging trends in information technology and communications that are having the greatest effect on IT governance.

This educational series is for individuals and organizations that place a high value on the cost effectiveness and sustainability of their technology to manage and grow their business. Some of the topics we plan on covering include:

  • Processes and standards for delivering the most value for IT support
  • The importance of hosted solutions in ensuring redundancy and eliminating paralyzing interruptions and the security issues surrounding hosting
  • Delivering next generation collaboration
  • Enhancing security for your voice and data.

We are also looking for your input. What topics and technologies do you want us to cover? We will be awarding an Apple 16G iPad to a grand prize winner for the best new topic of the year. Keep your ideas coming and submit them here Win an IPad.

Plans are still in the formative stage; an upcoming newsletter will include more details on the first few events, with dates, times and all applicable information. To learn more, call 215.672.7060 or send an email to Howard Podgurski.

Find Cost Savings With Managed Print Services

Managed print services can save most companies 25-30% in their print and copy environments by identifying resources, improving efficiency, freeing up the IT department, employing the latest technologies, and leveraging an organization's existing investment by shifting printing to the most cost-effective devices.

In addition, according to InfoTrends, most companies spend about six percent of annual revenue on print and output activities, which amounts to $180,000 per year for a company with $10 million in revenue. With managed print services, these funds could be used to achieve business goals or add to the bottom line.

These cost savings were identified as part of a recent U.S. and European Managed Print Services Study conducted by InfoTrends, which also revealed that "going green" or being more environmentally responsible, is a top priority for most companies in the coming year.

"Managing your company's print services supports overall managed IT services, and meshes perfectly with DocuTech's Connected Care program," said Howard Podgurski, DocuTech president. "By partnering with Print Choices, a team of experts in the field of document and print management, we are introducing complete managed print services to all of our customers.

"There's just no reason not to analyze your company's print and copy environment," said Steve Juiris of Print Choices. Savings can be found in printing to your more efficient equipment, optimizing the print environment, saving energy and streamlining the purchasing of supplies while enhancing document security, Juiris said.

Start the New Year off right by analyzing your print and copy environment, and resolve to improve your print and copy environment in 2011. You'll probably save a bundle of money as well. For more information, go to www.docutech.com.

fastformattingTech Tip: Just in Case

If you're editing someone's text who tends to be a little CrEaTiVe with their UPPER CASE and lower case, you need not fret over the hours it will take you to go through manually to make it more readable. If you position your cursor in the word or select a sentence and choose format, change case you can easily select uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, or toggle case.

Still not quick enough for you? Try selecting your text and then Shift-F3. Presto! Now you can toggle between upper, lower and title case.

Your numbers are a little misleading - "In addition, according to InfoTrends, most companies spend about six percent of annual revenue on print and output activities, which amounts to $180,000 per year for a company with $10 million in revenue. "

As well, the 6% cost of print is a little out of context. That 6% includes document creation, storage, processing, and hard printing.

The 6% number Infotrends quotes does take into account the costs outside of the supplies, services, and printer/copier aspects typically focused on during a MPS assessment. Document creation, and storage are a big part of that number. Typically when you isolate it to supplies, services, hardware, and the processes tied to them like ordering & break/fix, you see a number in the range of 1-3% of an organization’s annual budget. From that one can expect to see 20-40% reduction in that number. Outside of just the cost savings benefit of MPS, the overall efficiency improvements and simplification of cumbersome processes is a tremendous benefit that organizations enjoy post MPS implementation.
